Nockstein & Gaisberg

Due to the coming snow, our route will no longer go onto the Nockstein or Gaisberg. We will stay lower in the valley and attempt to utilize routes that will more likely be cleared.

Starting at ZIB, we will head north through SAM and up to the church at Maria Plain. From there we will descend through Bergheim before heading up the Salzach river and then west through Liefering. Our route will then make a large circle around the Klessheim palace and grounds before finishing at Europark.

We highly recommend runners bring nutrition and water for an expected 2-3 hour run, shoes with sufficient tread for the snowy/icy conditions, and multiple layers to protect against the cold. Cotton clothing should be avoided as it maintains moisture and gets cold when wet. Waterproof gear is recommended given the likelihood of continued snow during the run. Lastly, be sure to bring cash to purchase any snacks or drinks at the end of the run and to pay for transport (bus or local train) away from Europark.

This run is open to all members of the Trail Community Salzburg. Non-members are also welcome, eitherto become a member or make a donation of 5 euros.
