About the event
Our October Long Run is a Salzburg classic! If you're preparing for the Salzburg Trail Running Festival at the end of the month, you should definitely take part in this exploratory run for the main event of the festival.
The course first goes up and over the Kapuzinerberg, then through Parsch and onto the Kühberg. It continues up the Gaisberg to the well-known circular route and finally over 20 serpentines up to the summit.
From there it goes down on beautiful single trails almost to the Zistelalm, before it goes back into the forest and downhill to the Gamsweg. We run down to the campsite in Aigen before crossing the river and coming to Hellbrunner Allee. Now it's on to the home stretch, but there's still a small climb up to the Nonnberg Abbey before the final sprint to the finish line at Kapitelplatz.
As you can see on the race homepage, the total distance includes 23.8 km and 1,344 meters of elevation gain. We expect to need 3.5 to 4 hours for the distance. Please take enough water and food for this time. Runners should wear weather appropriate clothing and trail running shoes with tread suitable for the terrain. We also recommend bringing some money to enjoy some drinks or snacks together after the run.
This run is open to members of the Trail Community Salzburg. Non-members are also welcome to either become a member or make a donation of 5 euros.
