Speed Hike: Barmsteine

Like our other speed hikes, the motto here is "it does not always have to be run". Together we will make our way along the Salzburg/Bavaria border and climb one (or maybe both) Barmstein peak(s).

Distance: approx. 12-13 km

Elevation Difference: 800-900 m

Estimated Time: approx. 3-4h

The majority of this route is along well-worn paths, but the final climbs of the Barmstein peaks are rocky and steep. These should only be undertaken by those who are sure-footed and not afraid of heights. Those unsure about summiting the peaks can omit this part of the hike.

Please be equipped accordingly and be sure to bring rain gear, sturdy (trail running) shoes and enough water and nutrition. We will pass one hut along the way, but be prepared for a long day and bring plenty of fluids and food.

We will meet on Saturday at 10:00 at the parking lot / bus stop Eishöhle, located between the border and Marktschellenberg. Public transport is recommended (bus 840 departs Salzburg Hbf at 9:15) or by bike. There is a parking lot here, but it can fill up quickly on weekends.
